Wooden ladders are typically acknowledged for their functionality and almost never for their simple, innovative parts that make them useful.  The wooden ladder that inspired this chair, I re-built out of teak to celebrate the design of ladders and to also question our attraction to certain materials, specifically wood.  The original ladder parts were transformed into a chair.

A single 4' x 8' sheet of 3/4" plywood yields 6 chairs.  The hardwood version consumes only 5.5 board feet of material.

1 sheet of .75" ply into 6 chairs broken down into pieces consuming approximately 1.5 cubic feet.

The important part of wooden ladders are the thin metal rods that span the underside of each step.  Three individual metal rods were utilized in the design of the chair, making the assembly simple.
