Inspired by a sawhorse, the Buck Chair is representative of my interests in thoughtful engineering and pure form.  Buck's minimal form is made of 8 deceptively complex parts, and joined with a combination of a mortise and tenon joint and a series of locking wedged dovetails. The joints were developed from techniques commonly used in ordinary sawhorse construction, which allows each part to join together without the use of mechanical fasteners or hardware.  Buck is made entirely of wood and a very small amount of glue.  Carefully considered ergonomics result in a surprisingly comfortable chair with an intriguing profile.

The chair’s name came quite easily.  If you've ever known a person named "Buck" they are most often spirited and robust in nature, which is precisely the definition of the name.  What made the name even more fitting, was after a friend pointed out a sawbuck.

A huge thanks to Alison for her help with this little book.
